The Ukrainian Institute for Advanced Training of Television, Radio Broadcasting and Press Workers with the support of the State Committee for Television and Radio-Broadcasting of Ukraine held an educational training seminar for editors and creative workers of regional media on the topic: “Use of artificial intelligence in media work” (February 29, 2024).

As always, the UTRPI responds quickly to the extremely intensive technical progress in the field of media and, in particular, the development of social networks, and now the introduction of digital technologies, – said Bohdan Chervak, the first deputy chairman of the State Committee for Television and Radio-Broadcasting of Ukraine in his introductory speech. – Changes are inevitable, and success is achieved by the one who quickly masters the latest technologies, keeps up with the realities of life, is, as we say, on the cutting edge of time. The Ukrainian Institute for Advanced Training of Television, Radio Broadcasting and Press Workers helps colleagues in this.

Denys Zamriy, media trainer, head of the department of the UTRPI, presenting his presentation on the use of artificial intelligence, first of all noted that AI won’t displace real workers from the media market and won’t replace human intelligence. But how to simplify the work in the information field with the help of artificial intelligence, Denys Zamriy demonstrated on the example of the functionality of a number of services that generate texts upon corresponding clear requests and even check their veracity, that is, they perform the function of fact-checking.
Making a media plan, text, presentation, photo illustration, audio product, avatar – all this with the help of artificial intelligence, working in various paid and free services in a few clicks, was analyzed during the seminar.

During the entire exciting training, when Denys Zamriy demonstrated the possibilities and effects, the results of the use of various services, the listeners were actually convinced of the effectiveness of the latest digital technologies. At the same time, the conclusion is obvious: AI does not work without human intelligence! Maybe for now. After all, the perception of such a technological phenomenon as artificial intelligence goes through certain stages – from denial, anger, bargaining, discussion and, finally, acceptance. We seem to be at a stage close to acceptance. Because there are a lot of questions about copyright, information security, deepfakes, and other various types of attacks. What threatens us in the distant future of the use of AI, how it will be regulated in the legal field – these and other problems have yet to be resolved by the global community of AI users. There is also no legislative regulation of the use of artificial intelligence in Ukraine. So far, the National Council for Television and Radio Broadcasting, the Ministry of Digital Transformation of Ukraine at the beginning of this year issued recommendations on the responsible use of artificial intelligence in the media. This is, in particular, a warning about the use of a product produced in the aggressor country, because the virtual network stores certain data and this may have undesirable consequences in the future. It is also recommended to label media texts produced by AI. And the main thing – in any case, the final decision belongs to the person and his intelligence! So, AI to our help!
