On June 13, 2024, the Ukrainian Institute for Advanced Training of Television, Radio Broadcasting and Press Workers (UTRPI), by the support of the State Committee for Television and Radio-Broadcasting of Ukraine, hosted a seminar for editors and creative workers of regional media and communication specialists of the Center for Communications on the topic “The problem of sexual and reproductive exploitation as a challenge for Ukrainian media.”

Director of the Ukrainian Institute for Advanced Training of Television, Radio Broadcasting and Press Workers, Secretary of the National Union of Journalists of Ukraine, Honored Journalist of Ukraine, Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences Gleb Golovchenko thinks that the topic of today’s seminar is very important for our society, and media workers. In today’s publications in the press and stories on television, a superior attitude towards women sometimes slips through, emphasizing her inferiority, and this is unacceptable in the modern world. It`s necessary to place accents correctly and treat women with respect. That is why we have gathered today – to set the focus correctly.

Media trainer – Maria Dmitrieva, national expert on gender issues, senior lecturer (deputy head) of the department for training, retraining and advanced training of specialists in the implementation of state programs of the UTRPI.
The following topics were discussed during the seminar:
– Sexual exploitation, its types and how it`s considered in Ukrainian and international legislation.
– Reproductive exploitation: a problematic issue.
– How these topics are covered in the Ukrainian media.
At the end of the seminar, a rather interesting discussion took place, during which the participants expressed their opinions on the topics raised, and the teacher answered the questions that the participants had.
