Training course “Creating a barrier-free space”



On the 1st of October, the Ukrainian Institute for Advanced Training of Television, Radio Broadcasting and Press Workers completed a training course under the general short-term professional development program for employees of the State Committee for Television and Radio-Broadcasting of Ukraine on the topic “Creating a barrier-free space”.

The program consisted of two parts:

First part:

  1. Physical accessibility
  2. Information barrier-free
  3. Digital accessibility
  4. Social and civil accessibility
  5. Educational accessibility
  6. Economic barrier-freeness
  7. Regulatory base, documents
  8. Foreign experience

The teacher is Liliya Kavetska, head of the press and internet mass media department of the Ukrainian Institute for Advanced Training of Television, Radio Broadcasting and Press Workers.

The second part:

  1. Inclusiveness
  2. Segregation and its consequences
  3. Development of perception of disability
  4. Social approaches to disability
  5. Worldview foundations of inclusiveness

The teacher is Maria Dmytrieva, deputy head of the department of training, retraining and professional development of specialists in the implementation of state programs of the Ukrainian Institute for Advanced Training of Television, Radio Broadcasting and Press Workers.

After graduation, Glib Golovchenko, Director of the Ukrainian Institute for Advanced Training of Television, Radio Broadcasting and Press Workers, Doctor of Sciences in Education, Secretary of the National Union of Journalists of Ukraine, presented state-style certificates to the staff of the State Committee for Television and Radio-Broadcasting of Ukraine and noted:

“Ensuring barrier-free access is one of the key directions of Ukraine’s European integration, as well as an important part of modern human rights standards enshrined in international and national legislation. The UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, to which Ukraine has joined, as well as Ukrainian regulatory acts, in particular the Law of Ukraine “On the Basics of Social Protection of Persons with Disabilities in Ukraine”, is a guide for all of us in the direction of creating an inclusive society. I am convinced that the knowledge you have gained during this course will help you to contribute to the implementation of barrier-free principles in the daily work of the State Committee for Television and Radio-Broadcasting of Ukraine, making Ukrainian society more inclusive and fair for everyone. I wish you succesfull work!”.
